- Indirect Taxes: The Central Government; vide Notification No.27/2006 dated 21st September, 2006 & Notification No. 8/2007 dated 1st March 2007, had amended the indirect tax Rules to make e-payment of service tax and excise duty mandatory for certain assesses. For all the assesses paying excise and service tax to the tune of Rs. 50 lakhs and above per annum, it will be mandatory to make the payment through e-mode from 1st April, 2007.

Direct Taxes: The Central Government has made payment of Income Tax mandatory through the E-Payment mode w.e.f. 01/04/2008 for the following category of Tax-payers
- Companies
- All taxpayers whose cases are covered under provisions of Section 44AB of the Income Tax Act. (Tax Audit customers)
- Standard Chartered Bank has entered into correspondent bank tie– ups with HDFC Bank & Syndicate Bank to facilitate our customers to make these payments without them having to open an account with any empanelled bank.
You can therefore pay your Excise, Service and Direct taxes online. - All you have to do is to fill in a simple Application form / Tax Challan along with a Terms & Conditions sign–up form. Your account would be debited and funds remitted to the tax authorities.
- An acknowledgement will be sent to you immediately after the amount has been debited from your account.
