Q. What is the benefit of the Dining Plus card?
Through a combination of Dining Plus card and Gold Debit Card, you can avail of discounts at over 300 merchant establishments across India and Middle East.
Q. How do I avail of the discounts at the outlets which figure in the Dining Plus offer booklet?
All you need to do is to present your Dining Plus card before asking for the bill and subsequently use your Standard Chartered Gold Debit Card to make the payment.
Q. How can I avail of the Petrol surcharge waiver using my Gold Debit Card?
You can avail the petrol surcharge waiver of 2.5% simply by using the Standard Chartered Gold Debit Card for making payments. This waiver is available at all petrol pumps across the country. (Kindly note that the petroleum outlets will be identified using the Merchant Category Code of VISA, the franchise under which the retailer has registered)
The waiver will be limited to a maximum fuel spend of Rs 20,000 per account per month.
Q. What is the Gold RewardsPlus scheme being offered on Gold Debit Card?
This loyalty scheme enables cardholder to earn Reward Points while they spend. The Reward Points can be redeemed for cash. Reward Points will be earned only on POS (Point of Sale) transactions. No ATM transactions are eligible for Reward Points.
Q. Who is eligible for the Gold RewardsPlus scheme?
All customers holding resident accounts and having Gold Debit Card to the account are eligible for the Gold RewardsPlus scheme. This scheme is not currently available to NRI customers holding Non Resident accounts.
Q. How do I earn points on the RewardsPlus scheme?
The customer will earn 1 point for every Rs 100 spent.
Q. When does the Gold RewardsPlus scheme start and end?
The scheme's start at the beginning of the calendar year and closes at the end of the calendar year. For the year 2006, the scheme closes on 31st Dec 2006.
Q. To which account will the customer earn Reward Points?
The Reward Points will be accrued to the account debited for the transaction. In case of multiple accounts linked to a debit card the transacted account will accrue the Reward Points. The Reward Points will be earned at an account level, but the card type will determine the scheme the customer is currently on.
Q. How do I redeem my points?
Cardholder needs to earn a minimum of 300 points during the scheme period to redeem the points. Every redemption request can only be made for a minimum of 300 points.
Q. Do the Rewards Points have an expiry date?
All points will lapse at the end of the calendar year. For 2006, the points will lapse on 31st Dec 2006. Cardholder can redeem the same by 15th January 2007.
Q. What do I do to redeem my points?
Cardholder needs to call the phone banking help line to request for redemption of points. The bank will not redeem your points if not requested by you.
Q. What can I redeem the Reward Point for?
The Reward Points will be redeemed for cash. The amount will be credited to the customer account once he has requested for redemption. One point is equal to one Rupee.
Q. How will I know the points earned by me?
The statement of the customer will carry the number of Reward Points that he currently has earned by using his debit card. The customer can also call Phone Banking to know his Reward Points.
Q. How many times can I redeem during the scheme period?
There are no restrictions on the number of times a cardholder can redeem during the scheme period. However every request for redemption needs to be for a minimum of 300 points.
Q. What is the amount up to which I can make payments with the help of a Gold Debit Card?
You can make use your Gold Debit Card to a maximum daily limit of Rs 95,000 for cash withdrawals and another Rs. 95,000 for making purchases, subject to balances being available in your account.
Q. What is Global Customer Assistance Service being offered on the Gold Debt Card?
The Gold Debit Card entitles you access to the 24X7 global customer assistance service offered (GCAS) by VISA. This service can be availed through the toll-free telephone numbers of the respective country in case of lost card reporting, emergency cash disbursement, travel & medical assistance.

Q. Will I be able to use my Gold Debit Card for railway ticket booking counters?
Yes. You would need to pay a surcharge of 2.5% of the purchase as per industry practice.
Q. What is the immediate action to be taken in case of loss of the Gold Debit Card?
It is important that you report the card loss immediately by calling the Phone Banking staff. You are also advised to send a letter to the bank at the address / fax no. advised to you by the Phone Banking executives.
Q. What is the unique protection feature being offered on the Gold Debit Card?
All Standard Chartered Debit card including the Gold Debit are being covered under the lost card liability protection which protects the cardholder against misuse of their lost or stolen Gold Debit Card.
Q. What kind of misuse will be covered under this feature?
Misuse of the Gold Debit Card at Point of sale will be covered under this feature. All PIN based transactions including ATM transactions will not be covered. Internet & MOTO transactions are also excluded from the cover.
Q. What is the limit of cover provided under the lost card liability feature?
A maximum of Rs 50000 per card would be covered under this feature. The cover will be applicable only for POS transactions 7 days prior to reporting and 30 days post reporting of loss of card (i.e. hotlisting time of the card)
Q. What does the cardholder have to do in case of a Gold Debit Card is lost or stolen?
The cardholder needs to immediately inform the bank and get his debit card hotlisted. In case of any fraudulent transactions have taken place using the debit card, the cardholder will need to lodge a claim by submitting the following documents:
- Claim form for lost card liability (to be made available at the Branches)
- Original FIR copy clearly mentioning the loss of the Debit card and its number.
- A copy of the statement of transactions with each of the transactions claimed to be fraudulent clearly encircled and signatured by the person who has signed the claim form.
Q. From which date would the lost card liability insurance cover be applicable?
The lost card liability offering will be valid for all Point of Sale transactions carried out and reported after July 1, 2006.
Q. What is the maximum time in which a claim will be admissible?
All claims have to be intimated within 60 days of the occurance of the event. Claims shall not be admissible after this period.
Q. In how much time would the claim amount be credited into the cardholder’s account?
The claim amount would be credited into the cardholders account within 21 working days or 5 working days of closure of the investigation by the Bank provided all the required documents have been submitted by the cardholder.
Q. What are the special usage offers available on the Gold Debit Card?
Special promotions are regularly offered to all Standard Chartered Debit card holders and are usually communicated through the reverse of the bank account statement.
